All of us – and our grocery bills – could greatly benefit from using what we’ve got on hand. However, this is especially true for the Hurricane Sandy sufferers who are left without everyday conveniences like a stocked supermarket. For some, I understand, a homemade meal is the least of their concerns. My heart aches for those who have been greatly affected or lost a loved one at the hand of this devastating hurricane. But, for others, getting back to normal and making a good meal using what’s in the fridge or pantry could be just the medicine for mending everyday life.
Included below are my favorite meals made using basic ingredients and simple preparations. I understand that not everyone stocks the same things, but you’re bound to find something that speaks to your pantry staples! You’ll find plenty of soups, sandwiches, hearty casseroles, one-pot wonders, and much more.
Whether you’re picking up the pieces or just looking to get creative with what you’ve got, you’ll be able to find something easy, delicious and money saving below. I hope you find this helpful and have a great weekend!

Awesome list of recipes. I just made “pantry pasta” last week – it’s great to be able to make a meal with stuff I already have!
Georgia, this is such a great idea for a post and so helpful for all kinds of reasons. It’s so hard to be on the West coast and to sit and watch all the pain and suffering those on the East coast are experiencing right now. Thank you for acknowledging this and for this wonderful post!
This is the best post! Such great ideas!
I’ve got a recipe posting in the coming weeks. Certainly my favourite warming cookie.
